Product Specification & Sizing
Any images, samples, drawings, sizes and/or product description or advertising we issue, and any illustrations contained in our brochures, or on our website are produced solely to provide you with an approximate idea of the goods they describe and/or are representative of the finished product.
All garden sheds, summer houses and children’s play houses sizing is taken from the external roof size, with the buildings floor size measuring approximately 4″ less.
Garden buildings are all supplied with polyester mineral roofing felt, 3mm toughened glass (unless without windows) and quality fixtures and fittings as standard.
On each product page will have product specific information regarding the quality of timber and any other specifications that are relevant to the product on sale.
All building on sale from Merseyside Sheds are manufactured to order and as such, are considered bespoke orders. The number of sizes, extras and options available are purely there for you to buy to your required specification.
We are able to cancel any order that has not entered manufacture, with manufacture taking place within 14 days prior to delivery.
The buyer is asked to inspect the goods upon receipt and notify us as soon as possible if they are damaged. Where a claim of defect or damage is made, if goods are in the condition as received (not painted, treated, or altered in any way) we will supply or replace any necessary parts to complete your agreed initial purchase to your reasonable satisfaction.
It should be noted that timber is a natural product and prone to changes in appearance, including some movement and the occurrence of small knot holes or splits. Any splits, knots or similar visual imperfections in the timber will not affect the structural integrity of the product in any way, are not considered to be damage. Water ingress caused by spells of rainfall can also occur (see aftercare) None of which render the product unfit for purpose.
Merseyside Sheds offers free delivery on all orders over £200 to the following postcode prefixes: *L, *PR, *CH, *WN and *WA1-12. When the delivery process is taking place we will be required to park our vehicles as close to your property as possible.
The buyer will receive a text message (usually within 48hrs of placing their order) with a delivery date, then nearer the time of delivery, another text message with a delivery time slot. Due to the nature of the product being delivered, the company cannot be more specific with estimated times of arrival as unforseen problems can occur. The delivery driver will make contact in the event of a late arrival.
Unless other wise stated, installation of your garden shed or summerhouse is included within the price of your building that is delivered free of charge within our free delivery postcodes.
To gain access to your garden, we must be able to walk around the OUTSIDE of your property. We do not carry panels over walls or outbuildings under no circumstances.
It is essential that a firm and level base be in place before installation can take place. This can be concrete, patio paving flag stones, decking or any other solid foundation. Your firm and level base must measure the same size as the building you are ordering (or larger) and the whole area must be covered to ensure the integrity of your buildings floor is not compromised. We will not install a building on grass or soil.
Failure to provide the above, will result in the installation being aborted and the building being flat pack at your property for self-installation. If we are required to revisit due to your solid level base not being suitable, a re-visit fee will be charged. (POA)
All garden sheds and summerhouses are screwed together internally when installed – no cheap nails on the outside holding your building together! Our installation service includes the application of roof covering, glazing of windows (if chosen) as well as the building being constructed.
Timber is a natural product and prone to changes in appearance, including some movement and the occurrence of small knot holes or splits due to changes in temperatures and weather conditions. Any splits, knots, warping or similar visual imperfections in the timber will not affect the structural integrity of the product in any way, are not considered to be damage, and do not render the product unfit for purpose. Exposure to sunlight can also cause discolouration to the product.
Whilst every effort is made to hand pick timber without visible knotholes or splits there may be occasions where timber is selected in good faith that contains what appears to be a solid knot. Over the course of time / during movement of the product etc. it may occur that these small knot holes are then dislodged from the timber leaving a small knot or crack. Unfortunately we cannot be held responsible for this maturing of the product and can only offer our best advice on how to deal with this situation in the unlikely event that it should occur.
Throughout the year timber can appear to have moved and cause daylight to appear through the joints. This is by no means considered a fault of the product and is caused by shrinking and expanding due to changes in temperature.
To prolong the life of your garden building, we recommend you adhere to the following information:
- Always check there are no overhanging branches or leaves above your building, this can wear away the felt or break off and damage the roof.
- Check you have no puddles of water collecting under your shed.
- All door furniture must be oiled on a regular basis.
- Silicone seals may need to be replaced when required.
- The exterior of your garden building features treated timbers (treatment type depends on range of building). We recommend treating the building once installed to waterproof the timbers with a timber treatment that is either oil, solvent or PVC based. If water penetration occurs we recommend you seal your building with a waterproof paint or sealant – more than one coat may be required, check the manufacturers recommendations. Please allow adequate space around your building for future maintenance.
- Gutters can be fitted – this stops drips of water being blown on to the building, and also stops splash back onto the bottom of the building.
- If your garden building is erected in damp inclement conditions, you must ensure you leave adequate ventilation to allow the building to dry. If you fail to ventilate the building whilst timbers are drying out, condensation will occur. This will produce drips or runs of water inside the building, which may be mistaken for leaks. Condensation will also build up on the inside of the windows.
- We use heavy duty felt, this is the best on the market because it is manufactured with a polyester backing. It can move with atmospheric conditions, this is out of our control and will not effect the performance. We felt the buildings in a way that has been tried and tested by the company for over twenty years. The roof size is always the size quoted on our garden sheds and summerhouses.
No timber treatment that is given to any building protects them from water ingress, that can occur during spells of rainfall. We recommend treating your building once installed with either timber treatment that is either oil, solvent or PVC based. Water ingress can also occur during spells of rainfall. This is remedied easily by coating your building per the advice above. Please note that if your building has been delivered during rainfall, our buildings are delivered on an open, flatbed truck therefore exposed to the elements. This in turn can give the impression that your building has allowed water enter the building – this is not the case. We strongly recommend waiting for a dry day when your building has had time to dry, then apply a timber treatment that is either oil, solvent or PVC based to waterproof your building.
